This workshop is designed to take your tango to the next level by diving into the essential science of counterbalance and introducing you to the dynamic world of weight-sharing.
Whether you're a leader or a follower, understanding and mastering your axis is the foundation of great tango. Once we’ve dialed in your axis, we’ll introduce you to the art of supporting your partner through colgadas and volcadas—dynamic, off-aixis movements that add drama and flair to your dance.
In this workshop, you'll learn:
How to keep off-axis movement safe and maintain stability, fluidity, and connection, regardless of your size or strength.
How leaders can safely support their partners in these advanced moves.
How followers can feel lighter and more confident in their ability to let go and explore new possibilities on the dance floor.
Enhanced creativity and connection, giving you the freedom to express yourself more fully in social dances.
This workshop is perfect for dancers with solid basics ready to step into advanced tango territory, whether you're working towards Level 4 at Tango Tuesday at La Pista or seeking to build a stronger tango foundation for any advanced class.

Hi, I'm Emily.
Since 1996, I've been deeply immersed in the world of partner dance, exploring Tango, Swing, Salsa, Blues, and Fusion, studying with top, worldwide instructors.
In 2011, I began teaching and discovered a crucial gap in traditional partner dance education—dancer biomechanics. This realization fueled my passion for helping students not just learn the moves, but truly understand how to move like a pro, so they can have the dances they have been dreaming of.
Whether you're a beginner finding your rhythm or an advanced dancer refining your craft, my mission is to support you in experiencing all the joy and freedom that partner dance has to offer.
Thousands of students across the US and Canada have benefited from Emily's dynamic and interactive teaching style. Emily's adaptability to student needs and mindset training combined with her knowledge of body mechanics and holistic nutrition create high impact results for all her clients.
Emily is a Tango and Fusion dance instructor, a certified instructor of yoga, gravity yoga, and Krav Maga (self-defense and street fighting), and is a holistic health coach on a lifelong journey of personal and spiritual development.
